Audio Format
JingleBox will only play back Wave audiofiles. These are audiofiles with linear PCM, wave-type audio. The resolution of the audiofile must be 8 or 16-bit and the sampling rate must be 8 kHz. or higher. Files can be mono or stereo.
Uncompressed PCM audio typically offers the best possible audioquality. Because JingleBox was especially designed for jingles, promos, commercials and other relatively short audiofiles, there is simply no need to use compressed audiofiles with a worse quality. Most users can store their complete jingle package on less than 1 GB diskspace.
Because of this, diskspace is not so much of a concern. This makes it unnecessery to use compressed audiofiles. Broadcast Science chose quality over used storage space. Any modern harddisk will have enough storage space for a very large number of high quality audiofiles.
Since JingleBox was designed to work in a high-end audio environment, Broadcast Science chose to design the software for uncompressed audio only, to offer the best possible audioquality and the highest software reliability and system stability.
However, the actual audioquality also depends on the quality of the audiocard(s) you use. The software itself does not affect the audioquality in any way, since JingleBox only controls the audio, but doesn't alter it. |
