Audiocards
JingleBox's four jingleplayers can be routed to any audiocard in your system. Actually, JingleBox uses the Windows audiomixer, so JingleBox operates with virtually any audiocard that can be controlled by the Windows audiomixer.
The more soundcards you have in your system, the more jingleplayers can play simultaneously. Each audiocard (or psysical audio output) has can have its own channel on your mixing desk. Having the players routed to a psysical channel on the console gives the DJ or engineer a 'natural' feel and ultimate level control.
However, it is not a must to have an individual output for each of the four jingleplayers. Two or more players can be routed to the same physical output channel. In most cases you will never play more than two audiofiles simultaneously. Therefor, two audiocards (or two physical outputs) should be enough for most JingleBox users.
Most soundcards nowadays have a signal-to-noise ratio that is way above the average dynamic range or your program material. Combined with the fact that you don't use the JingleBox system for actual audio production. That's why the specifications of regular, midpriced audiocards will mostly comply with your demands. If you want to use multiple audiocards in one PC, make sure the driver of that audiocard supports the use of more than one card simultaneously (you can check that with the manufacturer). Also audiocards which support Plug'n'Play are recommended, to simplify the installation. |
